episode III i think was kinda lame.
Off with the jedi...
and then they were dead, it was kinda pathetic.
I mean, from all the Jedi games i've played, i've learned that even a padawan can take on 30 troops no problem. Is anyone else pissed off that the jedi just kinda... died?

This was explained in the novelization. Because the clones are perfect solders only obeying orders they have no ill will towards the jedi - its the ill intent (dark side energy) that Jedi are sensitive to...

As far as Padawan's taking on 30 troops - even Jedi can be taken unawares and overwhelmed. As Qui Gon says when Anakin asserts that no one can kill a Jedi, "I wish that were true..."

I can't stand this strange assumption that Jedi Knights are somehow invincible. It made sense to me that they were taken unaware, aside from the point that clones are detatched. It was a very fast order and the Jedi were quite preoccupied in thier search when they were taken down.

You know, this reminds me of my childhood. The first comics I read were Superman. I clearly remember giving up on them because the guy was invincible (except for kryptonite, which seemed a bit contrived). I grew bored of Superman and moved on to Spiderman (who was far from invincible) and then to the X-men, who were wrought with vulnerability.

      Made for much better reading.

If Jedis are nothing but supermen, then that would be pointless and unrealistic. I would have a hard time relating to them.

After reading on in the series past Return of the Jedi, it would seem to me that the Sith are much more closer to being invincible. I say if you want your Jedis invincible, just give in to the darkside and become a follower of the Sith.

More importantly, I'm amazed that Stormtroopers can actually shoot and hit something...anything...
    • Well, also take into acocunt the fact that Mace Windu and Yoday had a conversation in which Mace had stated diminished ability to use the Force, that which gives the Jedi thier alacrity and preemptory "spidy senses"....

So with the shroud of the Dark Side growing ever larger and the Jedi ability to Use the Force being weakened, perhaps they simply DIDNT see it coming....

I too thought overall they got punk'd when it all boils down to it and was disapointed that more a fight didnt take place, but hell...
Sidious gives the order, the 'built-to-suit' soldiers carry out the order, it's a done deal.

As for Stormtroopers being able to shoot and hit something.....I figure it's just like here in america...
The gins they had in Ep III were good quality blasters, built to last a soldier an entire war, or longer....like back in WWI and WWII...
Later on as in Ep's IV, V, and VI.....the Empire has turned to a lower bidding contractor for weapons mass production so the quality blows ass......and the later generation stormtroopers had to deal with awkwardly functional equipment.
Not to mention that the Ep III clones were born and bread to be nothing but soldiers, bread to kill. The later generation stormtroopers were recruits, most likely sent through a minimal basic training course then thrown into action.

It would be a better story if the Jedi were taken out by specialized recruits of the Sith, or more betrayal from within from the corruption of Sidious all in a masterfully planned strike, but then the movie would be six hours long.

Unf., the events of the Clone Wars are much bigger than the story of Anakin Skywalker, and also unf., Lucas has decided not to expand the story.
        • The Jedi were a little arrogant back in the day. Enough so that they were blinded by it or the equivalent of the dark side blinding them. But I could be blinding myself with my own lack of vision?lol
          • Good call. They did seem to have a bit of arrogance, esp. considering the fact that they held political power and had their own council.

            Overconfidence is weakness.

I wonder how the Jedi would do against the rugged Fremen of Dune...

Well I think in some ways they wouold be pretty even.

I agree wholheartedly with this one. They were very distracted and they were being clouded by the Darkside.

What I still don't get is how Yoda and the Jedi just accepted and decided to use that clone army even though they knew they were ordered and payed for by a guy who was associated with the sith... I mean COME ON! Jedi senses aside, thats just stupid.

Following post contains material originally post on TFN. It has been modified to be an internal memorandum:
                  Repubic Senate
                  Memo
                  To: Darth Maul, Darth Tyranus
                  From: Darth Sidious
                  CC: Darth Plageous
                  Date: 3/2/0006
                  Re: Plan for Galactic Domination
As discussed in our meeting earlier this week. Here is my list/ plan.
                  1. Create clone army.
                  2. Find capable bounty hunter.
                  3. Get him to agree to be cloned.
                  4. We must be sure that all references to Kamino are deleted from every database in the known universe and especially CLONESRUS(TM).com
                  5. Make sure Dooku doesn't use his real name.
                  6. Be sure you don't pay with the "Emperor Palpatine" checking account
                  7. We must make sure Sypho Dias was dead.
                  8. We must make sure Dooku doesn't blab about the superior job he's done finding Jango Fett.
                  9. We must come up with 65 orders before "Kill all the Freekin JEDI"
                  10. We must make sure there was a reason for Jango to try and kill Amidala
                  11. We must make sure Jango takes the Job.
                  12. We must make sure Jango sub contracts a job he could easily do himself AND.....
                  13. We must make sure the subcontractor is a bumbler who will be caught by the Jedi so.....
                  14. We must make sure Jango can shoot the bumbler with(Not his wrist mounted blaster,or his shiny pistols) a poison dart from CLONESARMORUS(TM).com inscribed with just look us up in DEX.
                  15. We must make sure Jedi who gets dart knows who DEX is.(because Dooku did his job right)
                  16. We must make sure Dex still remembers Kamino (those Rishi maze days were a haze)
                  17. We must make sure Obi wan is smart enough to ask directions from a 5 year old Padawan.....
                  18. We must make sure that the jump to Kamino (which is NOT in the NAV 'Puter {traveling through hyperspace... you know the quote} doesn't kill the Jedi.
                  19. We must make sure Jango doesn't use the Kamino dart on the jedi when he shows up....
                  20. We must make sure his armor is plainly visible when Kenobi arrives.
                  21. We must make sure the Jedi informs the Jedi council that they've been blind sided by Sidous AGAIN.
                  22. We must make sure Jango is smart enough not to kill Kenobi on the landing platform. BUT....
                  23. We must make sure Jango is stupid enough to let himself be tracked to Geonosis, and....
                  24. We must make sure Jango is gullible enough to believe 1 missle is enough to kill a jedi and all his spare parts.
                  25. We must make sure Obi can pull that maneuver off without damaging his tramsmitter.
                  26. We must make sure that the Jedi Council knows that their Jedi has been captured, considering that..
                  27. The silly Padawan has gone off on some damn fool idealistic crusade to save his mother.
                  28. We must make sure the Jedi that shows up to pick up the initial order at will call has the convenient prepaid receipt (with the law firm of Palpatine, Sidous, Dooku, and Tyranus mysteriously blacked out.), so they can take possession of the source of their ultimate demise.

It looks much better in Word
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Of course Palpatine didn't really need any of that.. It's funny though and so forgiven, but all he needed was an order for a clone army, when he took control of the senate the droids attack, he orders the army to be "Created", and he wins the war, that memo makes it look far too complicated... But it's funny! Lol

I kinda wanted to point out all the facts of like how Obi Wan wasn't actually required to complete this plan and everything, but you guys already know all that?

Not necessarily. As explained in Tales of the Jedi, a Jedi's perceptions are dependent upon their own attentiveness. In the case of Andur Sunrider, he was destracted out of concern for his family, and was not aware of the creature, Skritch, until he was bitten and poisoned. In the cases of the various Jedi who fell victim to the initial initiating of Order 66, most trusted the troopers under them, and thus, they had no previous reason to monitor their troopers, instead focusing on the various battles at hand.
