THE COSMIC ITCHING POWDER

David S. Walonick, Ph.D

Feeling stressed? Maybe a little edgy?

There's a reason... and it might not be what you think.

This is a very scary story. If The Invasion of the Body Snatchers
made you squeamish, then don't continue. Put this down now and
forget about it. Heed my warning --- this story is so strange
that it should not be told to the weak at heart. Its about
science, technology, stress, intolerance, sickness, and the
invasion of the cosmic itching powder. Fasten your seatbelt.
You're about to embark upon a voyage into the bizarre. But most
of all, remember...

It's out there right now. Invisible and silent. The cosmic
itching powder is doing it to you.

Science fiction? Unfortunately not.

Most social scientists recognize the stress that humanity is
experiencing. Only a few have hypothesized that it is being
caused by the systemic effect of electropollution. This is the
theory of the cosmic itching powder. I admit that its a somewhat
untraditional theory. In fact, most people consider it simply too
fantastic to be possible. It is, however, a theory grounded in
generally accepted scientific principals, and represents a
synthesis of many ideas developed by other scholars.

Deep beneath the surface of the Earth is a spinning core of
molten iron. This rotational energy creates a dipole magnetic
field around the planet similar to a bar magnetic. Our compass
registers a north and south pole.

Ninety-three million miles away, the sun is emitting lethal
high-energy atomic particles. These particles, often called the
solar wind, travel through space and crash into the magnetic
field of the Earth. The impact creates a strong magnetic field
distortion. The resulting structure of the Earth's magnetic field
is known as the magneto-sphere.

The Earth's magneto-sphere protects us from the deadly radiation
emitted by the sun. Without it, life could not exist. On the side
of the planet closest to the sun, the magnetic field is
compressed by the impact of the solar particles, and on the side
away from the sun, the field stretches out into a long tail. The
result is that most solar radiation is either trapped in the
Earth's own magnetic field, or diverted harmlessly around and
away from the Earth.

As the Earth rotates to produce a twenty-four hour day-night
cycle, the magnetic field at any given location changes (.2 - .6
gauss). During the day, the magnetic field is compressed, and at
night, it is diminished. The rise and fall of the magnetic field
corresponds to our biological rhythms.

Observing our own circadian rhythms makes it clear that we are
somehow synchronized with the rotation of the Earth. In fact, it
may be possible that life itself evolved as a result of Earth's
fluctuating magnetic energy field. Complex organic molecules can
exist in two mirror-image forms... a left-hand and right-hand
molecule. When we create these compounds in a test tube, we
always get a fifty-fifty mix. All living organisms, however,
contain only one kind. Recent magnetic techniques have
successfully produced all left or all right-handed molecules. It
may be that magnetism played a role in the creation of the first
DNA... the origin of life.

In addition to the twenty-four hour cycle, there are several
other weaker magnetic cycles. As the solar wind crashes into
Earth's magnetic field, billions of watts of energy are released
in the form of ionizing radiation and other electromagnetic
radiation. Some of the radiation becomes trapped in the Earth's
magnetic field, and begins to bounce back and forth between the
magnetic North and South poles. These extremely weak magnetic
ducts make up the background radiation of the Earth. This
radiation is always present, and roughly corresponds to the
dimensions of our planet. The Earth itself is resonant at about
ten hertz, and this is the prominent frequency in the natural
background radiation.

Prior to the twentieth century, all electromagnetic radiation was
of natural origin. The biosphere was an ocean of weak
micropulsations. Organic life evolved in harmony and
synchronization with the energy fields that existed. They
provided the pulse for the evolution of life.

For thousands of years, we developed in the presence of these
organic energy fields. The Earth was a part of us, and we were
able to feel its heartbeat. Our bodies and minds were
synchronized with the energy cycles of our natural environment.
The entire biological organism evolved in the presence of these
fields. Gravitational changes from the moon created a
twenty-eight day lunar cycle. Magnetic changes from the rotation
of the Earth created a twenty-four hour circadian cycle. Our
brains became synchronized with the resonant frequency of the
Earth itself, a ten hertz magnetic wave created from the energy
from the sun. This alpha brain-wave frequency is associated with
feelings of relaxation, peacefulness and harmony.

We remained in communion with our environment until the beginning
of the twentieth century. As the "Electronic Revolution"
unfolded, the environment was bombarded by cosmic itching powder
--- non-natural electromagnetic radiation.

Sixty hertz power transmission lines criss-crossed the country,
and radio waves were beaming music into our homes. For the first
time in history, man-made emissions overpowered the low-level ten
hertz wave that had synchronized our brains since the dawn of
time. We gradually became lost... out of touch with our
environment. It was difficult to notice at first, and it didn't
happen suddenly.

We can't blame the government for what happened next. There is no
way the Federal Communications Commission could have known about
the deadly effects of the frequencies they assigned to the new FM
radio and television technology. Radio and television stations
sprang up across the country in metropolitan areas.
Unfortunately, the peak resonant frequency of the human body is
in the middle of the FM radio and television bands. Cancer became
a common disease.

Electropollution is out there. No scientific investigator would
deny this fact. Its measurable and quantifiable. The question is
how, and to what extent, does it affect us.

The most significant effect of electropollution has been to
produce chronic stress in all living organisms. This has had
profound effects on our total physical and mental well-being.
Physically, our immune systems are weakened and we are more prone
to disease. We have seen significant drops in fertility levels,
and increases in birth defects and impaired brain functioning.
Mentally, we are in a constant state of stress. Our rationality,
as a species, is in question. Humanity is stressed out.

Stress is a catalyst for intolerance, one of the most important
social issues facing the world. Intolerance often leads to
violence. We will always have ethnic, religious, and
philosophical differences. If we can learn to tolerate each
others differences, we may survive as a planet. If we don't, we
shall surely destroy ourselves.

The notion of an invisible energy force affecting us is not as
strange as it might first seem. Millions of women report similar
PMS symptoms during their twenty-eight day lunar cycle.
Electropollution acts like an itching powder, directly affecting
our subconscious mind... below our level of perception. It just
makes us edgy. Everyone is affected to some degree, but some
individuals appear to be more sensitive than others.

Electropollution levels in technologically advanced areas have
become so intense that they completely overpower the natural
background energy of the Earth. The result is that humanity has
lost its communion with the Earth. We have lost our feeling of
oneness with the planet, and we have allowed the poisons in our
environment to reach critical levels.

During the first half of this century, it became clear that
biological organisms are indeed physically sensitive to some
forms of electromagnetic radiation. Symptoms included burns,
fevers, eye cataracts, brain tumors, leukemias and chromosomal
abnormalities. The military established safety limits based on
the thermal heating effects of radiation (i.e., burns and
fevers). Other non-thermal effects were ignored, even though
their existence was well documented. In 1966, the American
National Standards Institute (ANSI) adopted the military
standards for civilian exposure in the workplace.

These standards were brought into question by the scientific
community almost immediately. In the early 70's, the Oregon
Health Sciences University, in conjunction with the Environmental
Protection Agency, found a significant correlation between the
incidence of leukemia in Portland and the intensity of FM radio
waves. The EPA took no action, but throughout the 70's,
scientists around the world reported finding significant
biological effects from very low levels of electromagnetic
radiation.

By 1980, the military and civilian standards were being
challenged. In order to quell the rising controversy, the U.S.
Air Force funded an expensive animal study to prove that chronic
exposure to low levels of electromagnetic radiation were not
dangerous. The laboratory rats were "gnotobiotic" animals,
delivered by cesarean section, and raised in a sterile
environment to be free from germs and viruses. The radiation
levels in the experiment were twenty times less than the military
and civilian safety standards. It was a shock to the entire
scientific community when the experimental group developed over
three times as many malignant tumors as the control group.
Electromagnetic radiation (the kind that you're being exposed to
right now), can cause or trigger cancer.

In 1986, the Department of Public Health in Honolulu learned that
cancer rates were higher in nearly every area where a broadcast
tower was located. No action was taken by the State of Hawaii.

By 1988, researchers at the University of Texas had found that
electric-power company workers had an incidence of brain tumors
thirteen times that of the normal population. The tumors were
specifically linked to the sixty hertz fields that the workers
were exposed to. This is the same sixty hertz field that emanates
from the power lines around the country. In 1991, two Swedish
studies and one U.S. study again confirmed the link to cancer.

Over the past thirty years, many thousands of well-designed
research studies and replications have conclusively proved that
low levels of electromagnetic radiation have strong biological
effects on humans. The two most prominent effects are increases
in stress and cancers. We have also been able to identify changes
in brain neurochemicals and genetic abnormalities.

It turns out that all these effects are caused only by extremely
low frequency radiation. The ELF frequencies occupy a very narrow
portion at the bottom of the electromagnetic spectrum (0-100
hertz). These are the frequencies that the Earth uses to
communicate with her offspring. With the exception of lightning,
all natural electromagnetic emissions from the Earth are in the
ELF portion of the spectrum.

Human beings are receivers and transmitters of energy. Our cells
show the same crystalline properties of the earth we evolved
from. Crystals have the ability to manipulate energy. They can
convert, store, rectify and control energy. All living organisms
exhibit these same properties at macro and micro levels. In 1992,
scientists discovered microscopic magnetite crystals scattered
throught the human brain. This magnetic substance was the missing
link. It provided a possible answer as to how this communication
could be possible. Recent studies suggest a mechanism of action
involving cyclotron resonance where the magnetic energy field
concentrates its effect on biologically important ions, such as
sodium, calcium, potassium, and lithium.

Are non-ELF frequencies safe? No. It turns out that, regardless
of their frequencies, all man-made electromagnetic fields produce
the same biological effects. Radio waves and microwaves of all
frequencies are carriers of ELF signals. The ELF's modulate the
radio signals and "ride" them around the planet. The magnetite
crystals in the brain sense the changing electromagnetic energy
field, and through some yet unknown mechanism, the brain
demodulates the signal and responds to it.

The loud jungle of non-natural electropollution makes the signals
of the Earth and cosmos pale in comparison. We have literally
been cut off from our natural environment by the overpowering
bombardment of electromagnetic pollution. Non-natural
electromagnetic energy is everywhere on the planet. It is
generated by our technology. There's no place you can go to
escape from it.

It is not enough to simply identify societal problems. A good
theory must be able to provide solutions, or at least directions
for further study. The theory of the cosmic itching powder is no
exception.

Human sensitivity to electromagnetic radiation is a
well-documented fact. However, social policy makers will not
address the issue unless public pressure is applied.

The Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal
Communications Commission must join forces to re-evaluate the
current civilian exposure limits. New standards need to be
implemented that reflect current scientific knowledge. The
Surgeon General should issue a general health warning to the
public. These things will not happen, however, until the public
perceives the seriousness of the problem. The need for public
education is obvious.

The scientific community must initiate a full scale effort to
educate the public regarding this public health risk. The most
immediate need is to disseminate information on "practical
prudent avoidance techniques". These techniques involve taking
measures to avoid magnetic field exposure that entail little or
no cost. In other words, finding simple ways to reduce the dose
of radiation that we are exposed to.

Several steps can be taken to minimize ones risk from
electromagnetic energy. The goal is to reduce the total dose of
radiation that we are exposed to. This involves minimizing both
the duration and levels of the exposure. The appendix contains a
list of practical prudent avoidance techniques that the reader
can implement for their own personal safety.

The technology for long term solutions to this problem is
available now. It will not be implemented without intense public
pressure. Major corporate and military entities control the power
switch.

1. Use cable and direct satellite broadcasts to replace existing
radio and television transmitting towers. These towers produce
very strong energy fields for distances up to a half mile. Most
could be readily converted to cable or satellite. Satellite
repeaters cover wide geographic areas and produce very low energy
power levels on the ground. They can provide a relatively safe
public communications system. Shorter term solutions involve
restricting transmitter power levels and possible blackout times.
The goal is to reduce the total ambient radiation.

2. Convert the basic structure of the entire national power
system. The production and distribution of energy is in the hands
of powerful corporate entities. They will not willingly release
their monopolistic concerns. Photovoltic, wind, and other
renewable energy sources can be used to replace our nationwide
transmission power grid. This dispersed type of energy generation
structure will reduce (or eliminate) the need for high-voltage
long-distance transmission power lines. The cost of the
technology to accomplish this conversion is currently competitive
with public utility rates.

Nearly everyone agrees that our society is stressed. The systemic
effect of electropollution directly affects our feeling of
well-being. We can reduce our stress level by reducing our
exposure to electromagnetic radiation. The next time that you
drive out of the city, notice what happens to your stress level
as you get further away from the high intensity radiation of the
metropolitan area.

Unfortunately, there's an even darker side to this theory.
Electropollution is destroying society as we know it. It may be
producing either evolutionary changes or extinction of the human
species.

Hays examined the magnetic field reversals of our planet's
history and found that many species became extinct following
these magnetic anomalies. The great "die-outs" were somehow
linked to the disruption of the magnetic fields that existed
during the evolution of the species. The dinosaurs were part of
the last great extinction during the Cretaceous geological era.
During each magnetic field reversal, the most advanced species
were the most affected.

Scientists have proposed two possible explanations. One is that
magnetic field reversals were accompanied by changes in the
Earth's ELF background radiation, thus causing modifications in
behavior that reduced the survival efficiency of the more
advanced species. The other is that the magnetic changes caused
genetic alterations, resulting in defective offspring. Both
theories may be correct.

The natural geological magnetic field reversals of the past are
dwarfed by the electropollution created by modern society. We
cannot afford to neglect this problem any longer, for if we do,
humanity may follow the footsteps of the dinosaurs.

Electromagnetic Radiation Practical Prudent Avoidance Techniques

Many studies have found that even short exposures to field
strengths of 3-milligauss will produce biological effects.
Leading researchers suggest that continuous exposure to a sixty
hertz power levels should not exceed energy levels of
1-milligauss. All of the following "practical prudent avoidance
techniques" will result in exposure levels that meet this
requirement.

1. The use of electric blankets should be discontinued because of
the high magnetic field strengths and the length of exposure.
Electric razors, hair dryers, and curling irons also produce
high-strength magnetic fields, and although the exposure is of
much shorter duration, their use should be discouraged.

2. Position yourself at least four feet away from the television.
Many people are already taking this precaution after having heard
about the ionizing radiation being emitted from the television
screen. This radiation described in this paper is different, and
is being produced by the electronics within the set itself.

3. Maintain a distance of two and a half feet from your computer
video-display terminal. Models built before 1982 give off
substantially higher levels of radiation and should no longer be
used. If possible, install an ELF filter on the video monitor.

4. Avoid long exposures to fluorescent lights. Maintain a
distance of three to four feet from overhead fluorescent light
fixtures. Stop using floor and desk lamps that contain
fluorescent bulbs.

5. If your home utilizes electric baseboard heaters, position
your furniture and bed at least three feet away. Use the same
precaution for small electric space heaters.

6. Do not use hand-held cellular phones, portable phones,
walki-talkies, or any other hand held transmitting devices. The
problem is that the power radiated from the antenna is very close
to the brain. If you must use any of these devices, limit your
exposure to the minimum duration possible. Car phones that have
an external antenna are usually okay because the occupants are
shielded by the metal of the car.

7. Avoid prolonged exposure to all plug-in type electric motors.
These produce extraordinarily high magnetic fields for several
feet. Bedside electric clocks should be removed since they emit
strong magnetic fields near your brain while you sleep. (Digital
or battery operated clocks are not dangerous.) Run dishwashers
only when you are not in the kitchen.

8. Turn all electric appliances "off" when not in use.

9. If you live near a radio or television transmitting tower, or
near a high-voltage power line... move. Unfortunately, there is
no cost-effective shielding for the strong electromagnetic fields
emanating from these sources.

Thanks for this post Dorian. I've been looking into this for a while; what is written in the article is all true. I try to minimize my exposure to cell phones. I don't understand why some people look at me funny when I say that I can feel the microwaves penetrating my brain. The brain is a quantum biocomputer which emits em radiation and certainly it is affected by the masses of artificial em radiation scattered out there. There are simple things you can do to minimize your exposure to all this random energy, but unfortunately nothing you do can shield you completely, unless you hide in a bunker for the rest of your life... I have seen these necklaces that supposedly "absorb" microwaves etc, but I don't know if they really work, it's hard to say. Just don't wait another 10 or 20 years for them "official" reports on the harmfull effects of prolonged exposure to cell phone radiation to come out; we all know it's BAD for us. All we can really do for now is to minimize our exposure to these things.

      ok, lets explore this,

say for instance you were trying to bring this information to people who would like to prove you wrong, they like to argue, they want to have a flame war, and will acuse you of getting involved with a sensational subject .. etc.

they are going to want to see where the information is comming from ... references etc.

am i missing something here ?

i don't think that info was there .

I see what you're saying. It is important to be able to back up your stuff with facts... But is it necessary to prove everything and is it crucial to do it here? What if the information was channeled? What if I'm the source? I'm not disputing your point, just bringing up another argument.

If it was my intention to prove something by using an acceptable scientific model, then I would have done so, but it would have probably been difficult to cover as broad a range in as few words. The links you have provided are very interesting, but there's even mention in them of the fact that not everything can be "proven".

From the first link: "Until the sixteenth century, human inquiry was primarily based on introspection. The way to know things was to turn inward and use logic to seek the truth. This paradigm had endured for a millennium and was a well-established conceptual framework for understanding the world. The seeker of knowledge was an integral part of the inquiry process".

This approach accounts for most of my own conclusions.

Fact: Everything has an energy signature.
Fact: Everything affects everything to certain degree on an energetic level.

If you understand the principle behind noise cancellation for instance, you can easily draw your own analogies of energies that can cancel or disrupt the human body energetic spectrum, an electric stun-gun being an extreme example.

  • my own observations

    Tue, December 16, 2003 - 12:08 PM
    1) The first radios were based on quartz crystals [the 19th and early 20th centuries were more 'new-agey' than us, even]. Quartz crystals generate and conduct radio waves.

    2) There's a rythm that all life on earth listens to. It keeps the insects in sync with the flowers. It has been with us all along.

    3) Surges of static electricity have been recorded in conjuction with earthquakes; even the mythical 'ball lightning' is most often seen during seismic eruptions.

    4) There are spots on the US Geological Survey maps where the compass doesn't point north. These are known as 'magnetic faults'. Unique, non-reproduceable phenomena (ghosts and little green men) are most often reported near these spots.

    THEORY
Crystals of quartz and other minerals have formed in the earth according to magnetic patterns. The rythms of the earth are exagerated by the clusters which amplify the infomation as radio waves. These waves are measurable and significant only to biological entities. In the hard-fast scientific world, they call the signals 'random interferance' on their instruments.

Though conventional artificial radio broadcasts are not capable of the subtlety of the natural pulses, they still interfere with the reception of natural pulses by organisms.

    ANECDOTE
From 1992-1994, I became more in tune with my psychic abilities and intentionally more in-sync with planetary aspects.

Around 1995, I cut my hair. My reception to psychic signals dissapeared overnight. I've always attributed the abrupt change to the haircut (Longtime cultures of the middle east maintain that the hair is the antenae to god and should never be cut). Or maybe the psychic loss and the haircut were both symptoms of my need to assymilate into the film industry.

But what if the trasmissions were disturbed by the ubiquitous erecting of microwave towers?

    • Re: my own observations

      Tue, December 16, 2003 - 1:17 PM
Fascinating post brother Randal. Only I assure you that psychic awareness and the length of your hair have nothing to do with one another. Though I've always been somewhat psychic, I've kept my hair short, very very short for the last 10 years, also entered the film bizz (while hair was long) and my psychic antenna has always remained fully operational. Further more, in the last three years this sense has actually expanded quite drastically. I think this had to do with:
      a) certain personal experiences
      b) my will to expand my psychic sense
      c) the global shift in psychic awareness that's been taking place

Note: more spychic children are being born right now than seemingly ever before. Isn't that interesting?

Microwave antennas do interfere with our brains/brainwaves, just don't know to what degree. In theory, psychic energy cannot be affected by microwaves which in comparison travel at a much lower vibration. The human brain can however be harmed by high doses of microwave energy and thus lose it's capacity to receive psychic transmissions or even function at all. Just a thought for your consideration.

It's only up to you where you take yourself :-)

I would like to thank you guys for your intrest here. Your responses have all raised great questions and even provided some synonymous "truth". I feel that now would be a good time to address a few ideas regarding our Order. As we all know electropollution is not the only thing to worry about. As a matter of fact as it does pose a signifigant threat to us in the future ,it's whole existence is a by-product of something greater. To target the side effect of electropollution would be like putting a bandage on a leper. The bleeding has stopped for now but inevitably our patient will die. I find this analogy to be true to most all dillemmas we face today when treated as a if they are their own illness independeent of the entiree disease.
Allow me to interject and introduce another fun hypotheses. Is it possible that this polluion will be something that we as humans are forced to adapt to by physical evolution. sorry for the farce but it seems conjunct with the development of Neo's ablitiy to tap into the matrix with out being physicly plugged in. Meaning that according to darwinian theory we evolve to our present circumstances or die....-eureka epiphany!- this is an excerpt from my horoscope pertaining to this week.let this serve as a lose analogy for the idea I was getting at.
"Three billion years ago, the Earth's original single-cell organisms thrived in a carbon dioxide-rich atmosphere. As a byproduct of their metabolism, however, they released an abundant amount of oxygen. It was a pollutant that ultimately made their environment uninhabitable for them, though it prepared the way for the oxygen-breathers that now dominate the planet." I am not claiming that this was awell constucted analogy, seeing how the hero of the story dies, but we are a bit more advanced than the single-celled heros of our past. Could it be that we our forcing ourselves to evolve?
Back to the orginal frieght line. This disease what is it? In my opinion it is the global system that we have continuing to go unchecked by a higher authority. Meaning that as we have just observed the U.N. is not doing its job. How can we expect a coloseum of self intested economy jockeys to solely govern themselves and the greater poulation of the world. If you have ever wittnessed a band try to rehearse then you have a complete understanding of the type of pandemonium I'm eluding to. For those that have not picture this. Everybody in the room is on the same level, they are all equal no one with more power that the next. Occasionaly the lead singer can persuade the bassist, and guiterist to play the chourus like this or that inspite of the drummers wishes. And some times the guitarist can persuade the bassit and drummer to to agree to a solo that the vocalist may not like, but because the majority is in his favor thwe problem is solved. Now our little band rehearses day after day for a year and the day comes they decide that its time to put out an album. Well the vocalist comes to practice one day with a series of proofs that he had a professional photographer shoot of him. The guitarist has made a copy of the sheet music for his guittar solo. The drummer has an old picture of the practice space. And finally the bassit has a picture he drew. Problem is that they all want to use their respective pieces as the album cover art and each is so sentimentaly attached to their piece that no one is ever willing to sacrifice their idea for anybody elses or even the benifit for the band. What winds up happening is egos defeat the greater cause of the project. What would have happened if they had hired a producer/producers to direct their album?

I'll leave it here for now.
        Happy digesting!

Good points Dorian, of course. It's interesting that you brought up cingle celled organisms; I just emailed someone something about cingle celled organisms. It seems that we are on the same page. We humans are a complex organism, much more fragile than a single celled organism. The general rule applies: the less complex you are, the easier you can adapt.

We humans are creating a volitile situation for ourselfves in which we are unwilling to recognize the dangers and the negative effects upon our environment. It's not because we don't know, we know. It's because we, humanity, is blinded by greed, controlled for most part by ego. Yes, we will evolve, everything does, constantly. But we must realize that everything is interconnected, interdependent upon one another. We must realize also that we cannot evolve at a sufficiently fast enough rate to escape the exponential degree of toxicity our current way of life induces upon our environment. Maybe we'll all just take a leap forward by evolving straigth out of this dimension all together before it all goes to hell, but I don't think so. The universe simply doesn't reward bad behavior. We are here to work things out. To think otherwise would be to disagree with the law of karma itself.

I don't mean to disagree but single celled organisms did not ever disappear, they mutated as far as I know. If they had died completely, we simply wouldn't exist as we are an extension of them. They're still around today and serve as earth's evolution back-up plan. Even if we humans do something stupid or unthoughtfull that kills off let's say seemingly unimportant insects such as ants, we'd live, for a while, but life as we know it would seize to exist within no time. You see, ants are so populous they make up 20 percent of all animal matter on the planet! They airate the forests of the world and are essential in the oxygen exchange with plants. If the ants die, forests will die and eventually we will die. Single celled organisms, that's a big big subject that we can really delve into if you like...

I love your analogy with the band. Having a director or producer can have it's advantages, but I haven't run into too many of them that don't have some sort of an ego problem themselves; comes with the teritory almost. You know, egos can be kept out of the mix depending on how you set up your forum. If everyone's opinion counts, which I believe is the case here, there's no reason not to throw everyone's truths into the mix too, as everyone has their own. In this light, there's no reason for any band member not to be able to contribute their own insights into the album cover design. Anything else would contradict the very reason why they are part of the band in the first place, doesn't it, for their qualities? Or are we talking about Madonna or Millie Vanillie where everything's just make belief? No, I guess we're not. I believe Pink Floyd was such a band where everyone's creative depths were fully cultivated, but ego got in the way of them eventually as well.

Perhaps the only way to do this right would be to have a set of directives, but then you'd also have to consider having some type of order that assures the proper implementation of these directives... Achhh, why does it have to be so difficult? ;-)

I see that you interpreted my analogy of the producer within the paradigm of conventional behavior which is valid, yet I must insist that if we continue to approach issues in such a manner it is that which will be our demise. I find people continue to project their greatest fears when confronting incredible opposition, the type with which we are all concerned, and it is this that presents the most danger of all. To meditate on such concerns like you expressed is as if you were treating a child as though you did not trust them. When will we bestow responsiblity?

Now to sum up the analogy of the band. First consider that our hypothetic band does not want to play together. What they secretly would like is to do their own solo project so it will be only them at the top of the charts. The only catalyst between the members is the notion thet they will have a much
much better chance of success working together. The intresting thing is is that this underlying drive for each member to be better than the rest of the group creates a dynamic only acheievable under such circumstances, resulting in each member's endeavor to continually explore their potential to further and futher depths than that of conventional bands.
A good producer will only mediate, help to maintain balance, and keep the band together foreseeing that it is this inadvertant quality that will ensure their success and set them appart and above the rest. In short, competition is what the world is built upon, to ignore that would be naive. There are people in this world that are simply unmotivated and content with that fact as they have that right. And there are also those who have the desire to create, but in order to do so they must achive the resources nessacery, it is through this process of achiving ones resources that they refine their minds and creative vision making them more efficient in executing their goal. The pursuit defines the end. With out opposition presented in one's pursuit one does not evolve and refine resulting in a sour fruit.
Who want's sour fruit? Nobody. This is why capitolism works so well. Is capitolism intrinsically bad? Or is it unchecked greed that is the beast?

I must also say I dont know if I belive that singled-celled oranisms are sentient beings with foresight, imagination, and the ability to implement those traits towards the practical application of advanced species-saving solutions. We did not evolve thus far to fail. As I do agree immediate action must take place I have faith in our ability to persevere. Hence our wonderfull order here.

I briefly Glanced at chapter 15 while getting my coffe this morning. Very fun. I look foward to getting that book for christmas. I addition RJ to date I must comend you on your ability to have in depth link for next to each subject we've disscused. I often entertained the idea that in the future we will have personalized human referance sites. Meaning we find a particular Networker whose results we tend to like and continue to use them for their baised opinion in a world of over-abundently uniform choices.

                  just a thought.

                  thanks for the referance

I am also curious Dimi. You mentioned a set of directives. Do you have thoughts on them?

Hey there Dorian. I meant to reply earlier but I've been travelling so my web-time has been minimal. Anyways, you may have taken me the wrong way earlier.

I too have faith in humanity. Humanity performs wonders when cornered. I try to be both a realist and a dreamer, or somewhere in between. I do believe in magic. I draw my knowledge and energy from any and all available avenues and so approach the obstacles in my personal life as well. My faith in the future is very strong, while I'm also trying to be as pro active as possible. "Less words, more action"; one of my most favorite expressions... I assure you my friend, my response or "reaction" as you called it was not fear based at all, if that was what you were implying.

The reply to the band analogy was based on my personal experience as seen from my perspective. My goal of finding an order in which I could nurture my creative self was achieved by creating it myself. The experience which I referred to motivated me to form my own production company which in turn made it essential in my current relative success. Personally, I wouldn't join a band that doesn't want to play together though. If let's say hypothetically I had no choice, of course I would make the best of it no matter what, and I'd carry myself like a true team player; the only professional way to be. But as long as there are choices, I'd stay on my quest to find the people that I was meanth to be with.

Directives came up as the end of my speculative rant, hi hi.
But seriously, I've always liked the writing in Star Trek, especially in Next Generation with Patrick Stewart. The Federation directives is a clever, well though out piece of writing that seems to be inspired on eastern beliefs such as Buddhism. Piccard often quoted these directives that guided him in his actions towards other species and intelligences, refraining himself from destructive reactionary behavior towards the unknow. It was refreshing and inspiring to see such important values promoted in such a creative manner on (inter-)national tv. Yoda affected millions upon millions in similar manner too I feel. I often jokingly say "the world needs a global code of conduct". I think we can derive lots of guidance from our sci-fi archives : )

              love 'n light
              and happy holiday season,
