    It appears to be a case of two rogue Padawan without the proper guidance of formal Training by the Jedi Council.
    
    While I have my own working theories on the construction of a working (visually only) lightsaber, combining physics with old egyptian metaphysics......I dont think any of US would try something to obviously dumb as a fight sequence with flourescent tubes.
